His father had died in November 1896 and his mother then married Francis Gustavus Hill in 1907. Thomas was educated at Caboolture State School. He was single, working as an insurance agent and living in Eumundi, Queensland when he enlisted in 1914. Thomas returned to Australia in July 1915 and was discharged as medically unfit due to Rheumatism. He married Alice Maud Smith on 8 June 1918. Two other brothers, John Robert [2262] and Walter Henry [944] also enlisted.Birth date23 April 1891Death date27 October 1926
