Thomas was living in Gympie when he enlisted on 22 September 1914 his occupation was a Crown Land Ranger. He joined the 5th Light Horse Regiment and embarked on 21 December 1914. He landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula at Anzac Cove on 20 May 1915. On 8 November 1915, Thomas Joseph Brundrit was killed in action on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
