Victor Ernest was the son of Edward Ernest Wyatt and Mary Ellen McCarthy. He was single, working as a sawyer and living in Childers, Queensland with his parents when he enlisted in 1915. He was wounded in action sustaining a gunshot wound to the lower jaw and was returned to Australia for discharge on 6 April 1919.
