Walter's parents were William Eeles and Sarah Symonds, of Kia Rosa, Moynihan Street, Ascot Brisbane. He was single, a dairyman and living with his parents in Ascot at the time of his enlistment in October 1915. Walter was admitted to Endell Street Military Hospital in London on 6 February suffering from influenza, where he died of illness (pneumonia) a few days later. His older brother, William Edward [3800], who also enlisted lived in Caboolture, Queensland.Birth date22 August 1896Death date10 February 1919
