Walter Henry was the eldest son of Walter James Mills and Maria Hussey. His father had died in November 1896 and his mother had then married Francis Gustavus Hill in 1907. Harry was educated at Caboolture State School. At the time of his enlistment in January 1915, Harry was single, living at Eumundi, Queensland and working as a carpenter. Harry was captured at Pozieres in July 1916 and interned at Gafangerenlager Prisoner of War Camp, Wahn, Germany. He was repatriated to England in December 1918 and returned to Australia in March 1919. Harry married Ada Burrell in 1919 and after her death he married Isabella Pratt in Murwillumbah, New South Wales in September 1954. Two younger brothers, John Robert [2262] and Thomas James [170] also enlisted.Birth date23 September 1886Death date06 September 1961
