He emigrated with his mother and siblings arriving in Cooktown, Queensland on 11 August 1883. His father had died in 1876. Walter farmed at Delaney's Creek, Queensland with his brother, Arthur prior to the war and they had moved to Conondale, Queensland sometime after 1908. Walter was 41 years, working as a coach driver and living at Landsborough, Queensland when he enlisted in November 1916. He was killed in action at Passchendaele. His nephew, William Henry Sidney Templeman [5762], died of pneumonia whilst serving in France.Death date10 October 1917
