Walter's parents were James White and Angelina Elizabeth Smith ( his mother died 1883) The White family was early pioneers of North Pine and ran a successful dairy farmer on Oak Farm bordered by the North Pine River. The property remained in the White family until bought by Australia Paper Manufacturers to establish the Petrie Carton Board Mill. Walter enlisted 16 October 1918 at Toowoomba. Walter's four brothers enlisted as well, John [7361], William [6638], Frederick [4782] and half-brother Albert [4785].
