Buried: Toowong Cemetery, 18 March 1922 William's parents were William Howard (Senior) and Lily Stebbings. William's father died in 1914 and after his death Lily married Samuel George Bailey. Samuel was the licensee of the Palace Hotel at Woody Point at that time and one-time Mayor of Redcliffe. William enlisted in August 1915. Severely wounded in the left knee while serving with the 9th Field Ambulance, William was hospitalized in England in September 1918. He returned to Australia in October 1919.
