John's parents were John Albert Rilley and Sarah Elizabeth Neilsen, they were living at Lawnton from 1917 to 1923. He enlisted 5 August 1916, he was living a Bald Hills with his mother and his occupation was a fisherman. On 18 August 1917 John was killed in action on the Somme France aged 23. He never married.
