his parents lived in the area from 1891 to 1895. Joseph enlisted 7 January 1916 at Ballarat in Victoria. He embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A16 Star of Victoria on 31 March 1916. He returned to Australia 21 July 1918 on HT Boonah, arriving 20 September. He returned home and was living at Hughenden, his occupation was a Police Constable. He married Ethel Vera Tucker in 1920.
