William's parents were George Perry and Annie Brett. At the time William attended Humpybong State School, his father was the senior police constable at Redcliffe and William attended the Humpybong State School. William married Myrtle Town in 1914 and at the time of enlistment in May 1918 was employed as a schoolteacher at Toowoomba.
