TitleJohn Kelly and Margaret Kelly (nee Meek)DescriptionJohn Kelly was born in 1851 in Ballyscullion, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Margaret Meek was born on 19 December 1854 in Desertmartin, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. They married on 29 November 1878 in Bellaghy, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. John Kelly, his wife Margaret and three children emigrated from Ireland on the Duke of Buccleuch on 6 December 1887. He became a Bootmaker in Fortitude Valley and in 1905 the family, which had grown to eight children, took up residence in the Orange Hall at Upper North Pine. By 1907 they had moved into the township (Terrors Creek now known as Dayboro) with the three youngest children being enrolled at Terrors Creek School in March 1907. John set up a bootmaker and bakery business in two small buildings and also built a large family home. The business name changed to Kelly Bros. on 7 September 1925, with the baking being done by the brothers and their sister Essie helping in the shop. On 5 June 1928 Fred Kelly took over the business and in 1949 the business was moved to the old printing shop across the road.CollectorChambers, Stanley JohnRecord typePhotographFormat typePhysicalOriginal format colourSepia
