He arrived in Moreton Bay on the Friedburg on 16 October 1878 and as a 15 year old was offered employment at the Nugent Farm in Laceys Creek. Ludwig Lindenberg selected property at Laceys Creek on 4 February 1884, being Portion 147 Parish of Samsonvale, containing an area of 160 acres 3 roods 20 perches.
