Francis (Frank) Hart was born at South Pine on 22 May 1878, third son of Charles Frederick Hart and Eliza Somerville. Violet Mabel Williams was born at Mt Pleasant on 24 January 1881. Frank learnt his trade as a blacksmith and wheelwright from Ferdinand Smith at Laceys Creek. After his marriage he bought a property that his father-in-law, Charles Thomas Williams, had owned at Rush Creek and took up farming. It is not clear when he moved back into Dayboro. He did purchase the blacksmith shop in Dayboro and built a large house on the adjacent block but Ferdinand Schmidt had the business. He later built another house in Bradley Street and opened a blacksmiths beside it but it is believed that was after Ferdinand Schmidt had sold the other blacksmith business about 1921.
