Johann Christian Wirth was born on 29 June 1863 at Hohenhaslach, Wurttemberg, Germany and Maria was born in the same village on 20 January 1873. He selected his first property at Laceys Creek on 27 January 1892, being Portion 158 Parish of Samsonvale, containing an area of 160 acres. Christy as he liked to be called was chairman at different times with the Laceys Creek Hall and School committees.
