TitleWalton Albert (Jack) Thorpe wearing his WWI uniformDescriptionWalton Albert (Jack) Thorpe was born at Kangarilla, South Australia, on 10 April 1891, to parents Albert Samuel Thorpe and Martha Jane Pascall. In 1913 Walton was living with his mother and father and siblings working on a farm at Mt Pleasant. He enlisted in World War One (World War I or WWI) on 16 August 1916 in Sydney, New South Wales. He met and married Dorothy Beatrice Harding in Derby, England on 20 August 1919 and brought her back to Australia. Dorothy Beatrice Thorpe died on 14 March 1921 only 10 days after giving birth to their daughter Cynthia Harding Thorpe. It was Dorothy's wish that their daughter be sent to England to be raised by her family. On 6 January 1923 Jack Thorpe married Agnes Ann Heathwood. Agnes was born on 3 September 1884, to parents Samuel Heathwood and Agnes Mitchell Walker. They had two sons. He and his new wife Agnes Thorpe were living at Mt Pleasant with his parents. His occupation was a cabinet maker.
