Edward (Ned) Holt was born on 13 April 1892 at Whiteside to parents Edward William Holt and Sarah Jane Hare. His family lived at King Scrub. Elizabeth Mary (Liza) Jackson was born on 2 January 1895 at Terrors Creek (now known as Dayboro), to parents Herbert Jackson and Amalie Rohlf. On 16 February 1897 Herbert Jackson selected Portion 46V Parish of Pine, containing an area of 160 acres. This selection was later forfeited. On 29 August 1897 he selected Portion 32V Parish of Pine, containing an area of 160 acres. The Jackson children attended Mt Pleasant School.
