TitleEdna Gertrude Doyle (nee Arthur) readingDescriptionEdna Gertrude Arthur was born in 1898 at Singleton, New South Wales, to parents William James Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Campbell. Her brother James Rupert (Rupert or Rupe) Arthur and his wife Mary were enrolled on the Pine Rivers Electoral Roll on 7 June 1920. Rupert Arthur was a shop assistant employed by the Silverwood Store and sometime after that store was destroyed by fire in April 1924 he became a storekeeper in Dayboro in his own right. His children attended Dayboro State School. Members of the family were accomplished musicians and formed a band known as the Arthur Trio which played at many local dances and other social occasions. On 13 November 1925 their father William James Arthur acquired two properties at Laceys Creek, being Portion 23N Parish of Samsonvale containing an area of 51 acres 2 roods, and Portion 31N Parish of Samsonvale containing an area of 81 acres 3 roods. Edna Gertrude Arthur married Charles Leslie Doyle on 17 December 1924. Edna and Charlie had two daughters.
