TitleMatilda Margaret (Margaret) Harris (nee McGahey) and her brothers John and Robert (Bob) McGaheyDescriptionJohn McGahey (centre of photograph) was born about 1862 in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh, Ireland to parents Richard McGahey and Elizabeth Morgan. It is believed he arrived in Moreton Bay about 1888, two years before his brother John and his sister Margaret who arrived on the Dorunda on 5 August 1890. On 11 October 1893 John McGahey selected property at Mt Pleasant, being Portion 39V Parish of Pine containing an area of 154 acres. On 25 June 1900 he selected Portion 49V Parish of Pine containing an area of 50 acres 1 rood 32 perches. John McGahey married Agnes French on 29 September 1903 at the Joyful News Mission, Newstead. Agnes French was born on 27 January 1878 at Bald Hills to parents Richard French and Mary Jane McEwen (Refer to MBPS-00003-003 for a photograph of her parents Richard French and Mary Jane French (nee McEwan)). John and Agnes had three sons and five daughters. By 1912 the family had moved to Upper Caboolture. Robert McGahey (right side of photograph) was born in 1870 at Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Ireland. On 24 June 1896 he married Helena Mary Rospigaroff (Lena) who was born on 17 December 1879 to parents Adolph Fritz Rospigaroff and Marie Wilhelmine Auguste Haselbach (Refer to MBPS-0003-058 for a photograph of her brother and sister). He also acquired property at Mt Pleasant selecting Portion 20V Parish of Pine containing an area of 80 acres on 29 November 1895. Over the years he added another four properties to his Mt Pleasant land holdings. By 1912 they had moved to Mt Mee. In later years they retired to a property in Hay Road, Dayboro. Matilda Margaret (Margaret) McGahey (left side of photograph) was born in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Ireland. She married William Harris on 23 December 1896. They had two sons and four daughters. They lived in North Queensland. In 1903 they were living in Nelson in the Herbert Electorate.
