DescriptionThe suburb name originates from an early property owner, James Cash, who had land on the South Pine Rivers at Eatons Hill and Albany Creek. Cashmere was formally named in 1979 and ‘mere’ is Old English for a lake or pond, as Cashmere’s northern border overlooks Lake Samsonsale.
