TitleJanuary 2011 Flood Event - Leis Parade Lawnton washed awayDescriptionOn 11 January 2011 a major flood event occurred in the North Pine River. This flood event was the combination of above-average levels of rainfall over an extended period prior to 6 January 2011 and peaked on 11 January 2011, thus impacting on the North Pine Dam and the surrounding catchment areas. The North Pine Dam operators had to open five floodgates on 11 January 2011. This photograph was taken just after 11 January 2011 looking east on Leis Parade Lawnton under the railway bridge where the road surface for Leis Road has been washed away and sustained substantial damage. Trees in Leis Park have also been washed out of the ground. Groups of people inspect the damage to both the park and the road. Gympie Road can be seen in the background of the photograph.
