TitleWoodford Theatre lit up at night before reticulation electricity came to townDescriptionAt this time it was the only building lit up for entertainment in the town. The new theatre at located at 115 Archer Street Woodford was built after the 1937 fire which destroyed the Alexandra Hall and the Post Office and the Barber Shop. In 1937 the Alexandra Hall which was owned by R.A. Evans burnt down along with the Post Office and the Barber Shop. A new theatre was built to take its place. This being the first building in Woodford specifically designed as a theatre. In the new theatre which was leased by Alec and Jean Marshall twin movie machines gave Woodford theatregoers their first non-stop pictures. The Marshalls (previously from Redcliffe) later bought the theatre. Refer to Page 314 of the publication From Spear & Musket.
