TitleChurch fete at the Deception Bay State School, ca. 1946 or 1947DescriptionThis photograph was taken at a Church Fete at the Deception Bay State School (then a one teacher school). The first Deception Bay School (Provisional) opened in 1892 on the site of the present (1998) High School on the corner of Phillip Parade and Government Road Deception Bay. The school closed in 1905 and later the building was removed to serve as a school at Narangba in 1910. The next school was conducted in a private home in Water Street in 1929 until a new school was built in King Street Deception Bay in 1932.
