TitleSouthern end of the Bancroft Baths at Deception BayDescriptionThe baths were revealed during an archaeological dig by Caboolture Shire Council in 2004. They are the only known 19th century baths in Queensland. The baths, which are 400 metres apart, were built in the 1880s by Dr Joseph Bancroft, one of the leading pioneers in Australian medical research. His wife Anne, who was suffering from a chronic illness, was carried down the cliff each day to one of the baths, which were filled by the incoming tide.
