The gardens were later located at the left of the photograph on the opposite bank of the North Pine River. The paddock in the foreground, part of Portion 33, Parish of Redcliffe, was then the property of John Duffield (Junior) (1844-1930). The post-and-rail fence at the right formed the dividing line between Duffield's land and Portion 44, then the property of James Hay (1819-1897) and his son Charles Hay (1848-1921).
