TitleLoading granite blocks at the Camp Mountain Railway Station, ca. 1921DescriptionDuring a brief period from 1921 to 1923, granite quarried from a property owned by the Marks family at Camp Mountain was transported to Brisbane on the newly opened Dayboro Branch Railway. The granite, actually classed as granodiorite, was quarried in large blocks, hauled to the railway line and railed to a point near the Roma Street railway yards to be used for the foundations of the Brisbane City Hall. The quarry was short-lived, however, having been operated by the contractor, Arthur Midson and Son, specifically for the City Hall project.
