TitleYvonne Chapman, 1986DescriptionPortrait of Yvonne Chapman taken in 1986 when she was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly representing the Pine Rivers electorate. She had previously served as a Pine Rivers Shire Councillor from 1976 until 1985. In 1994, she returned to local government becoming the Pine Rivers Shire Council's first Lady Mayor. Under the provisions of a new Local Government Act, assented to on 7 December 1993, the heads of all Queensland councils received the title of mayor in place of the former title of chairman. In both the 1997 and 2000 polls for mayor, Yvonne defended her position decisively gaining a high percentage of the votes. She was unopposed at the 2004 election. The 2008 amalgamation of the Pine Rivers Shire with Caboolture (Qld.) Shire and Redcliffe City Council determined that she was, in fact, the Pine Rivers Shire's first, last and only mayor.
