TitleWilliam Charles Joyner (1846-1900)DescriptionWilliam Charles Joyner (1846-1900), the only child of William Joyner and Isabella Penson/Joyner/Griffin. Young William was brought to the Samsonvale Run by his mother as a two-year-old baby following his father's tragic death in 1847. The Joyners lived in Sydney but made frequent visits to the property and after his father's death his mother moved from Sydney to live on Samsonvale Run. After being educated in Brisbane and Sydney, he returned to Samsonvale where he gradually assumed more responsibility for the operation of the property. Despite having to surrender much of the leasehold land, William was eventually granted freehold title for about a quarter of the original run. In this way, Samsonvale retained its integrity as a beef and dairy property and was held by William and his descendants until the end of the Second World War (WWII).
