Great grandfather McCombe worked on the railway and helped build Samford School with Tom Richards. Grandfather also worked on the railways as a carpenter. Tom, Don, Ernie and Valmae's father worked at the Newmarket Brickworks and sent cream into Brisbane from the McCombe Dairy.
