TitleThe gravesite for Stephen Lawn at Lawnton Cemetery, 1998DescriptionStephen Lawn's grave in Lawnton Cemetery showing the location of the historic plaque erected by the Pine Rivers Shire Council. Stephen Lawn (1836-1917), blacksmith and wheelwright of Lawnton. The area of Lawnton was named after him after part of his land was resumed for railway purposes. He migrated to Queensland from Helmsley, Yorkshire, England, in 1862 and selected land north of the North Pine River. He later sold the land and bought south of the river. He established a small blacksmith shop on part of Portion 21 but later moved the shop to Portion 39, Parish of Warner. He married Hannah McGraw in Brisbane in 1874. He died on 21 September 1917.
