Our Story

Stubbings Strain Collection

DESCRIPTION

Description

Photographs related to the Stubbings and Strain families of Dayboro district. Moses Stubbings was born in 1858 in Falstead, Essex, England to parents William Stubbings and Charlotte Mead. Sarah was born on 28 December 1868 at Killyman, Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Moses Stubbings married Sarah Ann Strain the daughter of a well known local pioneering family on 27 December 1882. Moses selected 155 acres of land at Laceys Creek in 1879.

Included is a family Bible which contains family genealogy information. Also included is a lace handkerchief and a newspaper article about a plane crash on their property in 1978.
