Until the 1960s and 70s, nearly every woman had some fur in her wardrobe, from collars and stoles to jackets and coats - even here in Queensland, where fur was deposited in cold stores for the warmest months of the year. Mink, sable and chinchilla were amongst the most expensive and luxurious furs. Many varieties of fox were less expensive, and rabbit fur was a budget option.
