The homburg is defined by the single fold in the crown and the stiff ‘pencil curl’ upturned brim edge. Made famous by King Edward VII in the late 1890s, the homburg was also a favourite style of Winston Churchill from the 1910s until his death in 1965.
Today the homburg is considered too formal and has almost disappeared from use.
