TitleA Conservation Management Strategy for Samsonvale Historic CemeteryDescriptionThis study gives a brief account of the development of Samsonvale from the late 1800s to present day, together with its social history. This establishes the cultural significance of the Cemetery and provides a background for the necessity to conserve the historical context of Samsonvale Historic Cemetery.

A detailed investigation and analysis of the site and its related documentation establishes whether there is an existing fabric relating to the cultural and historic significance of the site. This provides the basis for analysis of current conservation theory and argues for conservation measures to be adopted.

An analysis of the potentials and constraints of the site and the adjoining parcels of land assist in developing a Conservation Policy for the Cemetery's Management. A number of Conservation Techniques are then developed for the enhancement and maintenance of the existing gravesites at Samsonvale Historic Cemetery.

This study also discusses the similarities and differences of the General Conservation Philosophy in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
