Lehman Park - West

The Lehman Family were pioneers in the Beachmere Area, starting up the first party line telephone and owning the original shop in the area. Albert (Walter) and Myrtle Lehman were respected local identities in Beachmere for more than half a century. In the mid 1930s they opened a general grocery store in Main Road opposite the present Bowls Club. I the late 1940s Walter and Myrtle relocated their house to land beside King John Creek. They grew small crops for the Brisbane Markets and their roadside stall. By the late 1950s the land had been transformed into a showplace dairy farm. With able assistance from daughter Joan and Carole, the Lehman’s began daily deliveries of fresh chilled milk to the people of Beachmere. Albert Lehman died 1985 aged 76 years and Myrtle Lehman died 1997 aged 85 years.
