Beverley Place, Ferny Hills (Qld.)
This little area is not a park, just a cleared recreation area at the entrance to Pine Rivers Shire. The Beverley family owned 111 acres of land being Portion 586, Parish of Bunya from November 1894 to 1956. Mr Thomas Beverley, Pound keeper and his wife Catherine Francis lived at Newmarket having substantial land holdings. Mrs Beverley was the Saleyards' Caterer and, and has also left a heritage of Silver Cups and solid Medals for her noteworthy horsewomanship (side saddle). Thomas died 2 October 1904, and Catherine 9 January 1911 both at the early age of 56 years. The 3 daughters inherited this property and were well known as the Beverley sisters at the Ferny Grove Picnic Kiosk which operated through a gateway quite close to the newly named area, and where punts/canoes were rented out for use on Kedron Brook at weekends. The timber sign was erected in the week ended 10th May 1986. The one surviving Beverley sister, and the only one to marry, Mrs Annie May Levingston died 28 June 1986. "When the Lord is ready he will call me home" was the favourite saying of this 98 year old.
