Don McQuilty Park, Lawnton (Qld.)

Donald Keith McQuility lived in the shire for over 30 years and was active in Kindergarten and School committees, giving both time and earthmoving machinery when required. He was involved in the tennis association, Aussie Rules Clubs and Apex. He was a the only foundation member to go right through to retirement. He was instrumental in forming the first youth group here in the early 70's in Bray Hall in Petrie. On minute page 80382 of the Community and Environment Committee meeting held on the 18 July 1991, that a ceremony to officially commemorate the erection of the sign. The ceremony was at 6pm on the 21st November 1991. First suggested by Merv Hewitt on 11th April 1991 file num 616/1 KF. Officially approved on 23rd April 1991.
