George Willmore Park, Ferny Hills (Qld.)

The late George Willmore of Willmore & Randall, Land Subdividers & Sales, died in July 1978. Being one of the first developers in the Pine Rivers Shire, this firm was faced with many problems - water supply, drainage, bridges all of which were suitably subscribed to assist the Shire Council. Mr Willmore's philanthropic attitude to the residents of this area has been honoured in two places in Ferny Hills. Mr Willmore's reply to a personal letter from Ferny Grove Kindergarten Association was a donation of 57 perches of land in Irruka Crescent, apparently set aside for the use of his own son, and given for the small cost of road construction £400. the land value was approx. £2 600 in May 1967 and on this block 31 January 1970, the Willmore Kindergarten building was opened by Mr George Willmore who came from Sydney for the occasion.
