Harry Evans Park, Arana Hills (Qld.)

Named in honour of Harry Evans who was the Mail Contractor in the Arana Hills and Bunya Districts from late 1940's until the delivery contracts were divided. Mr Evans befriended all the families on his mail run, brought together several ex-patriots of New Zealand. He rode a motorbike delivering mail under rocks or lumps of wood to the newly established homes before residents had got around to putting up there letterbox. Harry Evans, his wife Jean and family, lived in a small hut on the flat down the easement off Jane Street.
