John Leitch Memorial Park, Albany Creek (Qld.)

Councillor John Leitch was elected to 1894 Pine Divisional Board replacing George Johnston who had resigned. He continued to serve as a member 1895 to 1903 being re-elected twice on his rotational retirements. John Leitch was elected by fellow members to the position of Chairman of the Board for the years 1898, 1890 and 1903. When the Board became the Pine Shire Council in 1903 John Leitch was a member continuing to his last meeting 31 January 1907. John Leitch died 7 September 1926 aged 62, burial Lutwyche Cemetery. The estate of John's youngest son Percy John Leitch which was finalised in 1992 made a grant for establishing a commemoration to be named John Leitch Memorial Garden, Albany Creek.
