Keating Reserve, Samford Valley (Qld.)

Louis Joseph Keating was born in 1885 and died in 1957. He had purchased a total of 522 acres in the Samford area between 1904 and 1906, including the land on which the reserve is situated. He was a member of the 1916 delegation to the minister for Railways regarding having the line completed within three months in order to send large lots of timber to Brisbane. The rail service would prevent the local road becoming impassable by heavy hauling (the rail line to Samford was not completed for another two years). Louis Joseph Keating was still a landowner in 1952.
