Rob Akers Reserve, Strathpine (Qld.)
Councillor of Pine Rivers, Robert George Akers was born in 1941. He was elected in 1973 to represent Division Two of Pine Rivers Shire Council serving as Chairman of the Health Building and Town Planning Committee. In December 1974 Rob Akers contested as a Liberal Party member and won the seat of Pine Rivers in Queensland State Parliament. He resigned from local government in December 1978, Rob lost the State seat of Pine Rivers to Yvonne Chapman in the 1983 election. In 1985 Rod Akers was successful at the pole where he headed a group of independents termed Pine Action Team in the 1988 Shire election, retaining the chairmanship and again in 1991. Rob Akers was awarded a 2001 Centenary of Australian Federation Medal for distinguished service to community through Parliament, Local Government and the Lions Club. Robert George Akers died 29 October 2006 aged 65
