Named in honour of the Russell family, Victor Russell was one the early dairy farmers in the district, purchasing the land in 1919. Geoffrey Raymond Russell, a descendant still lives in the original home which is opposite the park. Victor fought in WW1 and his son Raymond fought in WW2
