Bill Rogers Park was named for Edward William Rogers, commonly called 'Bill'. Bill and Nell Rogers and their family settled in Redcliffe in 1938 where they bought a farm on the North Coast Road (now Elizabeth Avenue). Bill served five years in the Army before returning to the farm. He was elected as an alderman 1946-1949 and during his term he fought for the establishment of College Park at Clontarf. Bill was foundation President of the Redcliffe Show Society and was of great assistane to Monsignor Frawley in establishing De La Salle College at Scarborough.
