The first Redcliffe Divisional Board was elected in July 1888 and Mr H. Imrie was appointed as acting Divisional Clerk to the Board until such time as a permanent appointment could be made. In August 1888 tenders were called for the position of Clerk. Mr Edward Cooper tendered 150 pounds to act as Clerk, Valuator and Overseer against Mr H. Imrie's 100 pounds per annum with the appointment to date from 13 Aguust 1888. In March 1889, Mr Cooper tendered a letter of resignation offering to carry on engineering work at ten shillings per day. This suggestion was rejected by vote and his resignation was accepted.
