Corscadden Park was named for George Hiram William Corscadden. George was born in Sandgate in 1921, the grandson of George and Kate Corscadden who settled in Redcliffe in 1884. George attended Humpybong State School and Brisbane State High School. He was the Redcliffe Town Council’s first electrical apprentice in 1936, transferring later to City Electric Light and he eventually ran a successful electrical business with his wife Frances. George joined the Army in 1942 and served as an operative behind enemy lines. He married Frances in 1944 and they had two daughters. For 40 years George was a member, senior vice-president and trustee of the Redcliffe AH and I Society. He was a Rotarian for 30 years and one of four founding members of the Moreton Bay Boat Club.
