NameGayundah Coastal Arboretum, Woody Point (Qld.)Information
Gayundah Coastal Arboretum is named for Gayundah Esplanade which in turn is named for the Gayundah, a former navy vessel beached on the foreshore at Woody Point in 1958 to slow erosion. The Aboretum has been planted with flora native to coastal areas and was originally intended as an instructional facility for school children to learn about flora. -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
