Formerly Bells Paddock, H A Dalton Park was named for Herbert Allen Dalton a former deputy mayor of Redcliffe 1967-1970. Herbert Allen Dalton was born at Clayfield in Brisbane in 1896 and married Edna Clark in 1920. Herbert established his own business at New Farm designing and retailing lounge furniture. He later joined the firm of James Neal and Company and managed their furniture department for nine years before retiring to Clontarf about 1946. He was elected to the Redcliffe City Council in 1964 and re-elected in 1967 when he was appointed deputy mayor. Wants Park Named Dalton Park The Redcliffe City Council is to be asked to name some reserve on the Peninsula after the late Deputy Mayor, Ald. H. A. Dalton, who died recently. The request will be made by the Clontarf Beach Progress Association which discussed the matter at its April meeting. The association will suggest that Bells Paddock be named Dalton Park after Ald. Dalton who had been an association member. [Redcliffe Herald, 7 May 1969, p.2] -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
