Langdon Park was named for Alfred Henry Harrington Langdon who was elected Redcliffe’s fifth mayor from 22 April 1930 to 1943, when he was defeated by Joseph Grice. Alfred was mayor at the opening of the Hornibrook Highway Viaduct on 4 October 1935, and held a civic reception for all invited guests. During his terms of office a new Council building was erected and the water tower constructed. This park is the home of Little Athletics in Redcliffe. -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
