M J Brown Park was named for Malcolm John Edwards Brown. Malcolm was born in Melbourne in 1920. His family moved to a property in the Quilpie district in 1924. He married Margaret Painton of Maryborough in 1953 and purchased a property near Quilpie in 1954. The Browns settled in Redcliffe in the 1960s and built homes on the Peninsula later branching out into land development. A keen supporter of the Queensland Bush Children’s Health Scheme, Malcolm was also a member of the Humpybong Scout Committee and a keen supporter and committee member of the Redcliffe Swimming Club and QASA official. -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
